Non- refundable Grant of EUR 460 thousand for 284 farmers in Montenegro approved

Thought the Public Invitation for granting support to agricultural producers for 2020, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development implements in cooperation with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), a non – refundable assistance of EUR 460 thousand for investments in the amount of EUR 866 thousand, which will be realised by 284 producers.

Also, through the Public Invitation, municipalities of Nikšić, Šavnik, Žabljak, Mojkovac, Bijelo Polje, Berane and Petnjica received a total of 135 applications in a total value of EUR 5.6 million to support the development of rural infrastructure for 2020, of which 105 applications were for road infrastructure in a total value of EUR 4.2 million and 30 applications were for water supply in a total value of EUR 1.4 million. The procedure of evaluation, ranking and approval of the received applications is in progress, after which we expect an additional 40 kilometers of rural roads to be asphalted this year and at least 15 new investments in water supply to be implemented.

Over the past two years, the Government – together with the IFAD and local governments has built 55 sections of asphalt rural roads with the total length of about 39 km and a value of over EUR 2.6 million, in seven Montenegrin municipalities namely Nikšić, Bijelo Polje, Berane, Mojkovac, Petnjica, Žabljak and Šavnik. In the area of water supply, 26 projects were also implemented, with a total value of almost EUR one million.

In the same period, 279 agricultural producers realized investments worth EUR 941 thousand, for which they received support of over EUR 460 thousand thought this projects.

It is estimated that over 17,000 beneficiaries have a direct benefit from these investments.
