Corona virus pandemic formally declared in Montenegro

 

At the NCB’s session, chaired by President Milutin Simović, the National Coordination Body for Communicable Diseases considered report of the Crisis Medical Staff.

It was assessed that the Crisis Medical Staff, headed by Prof. Dr. Ranko Lazović, timely and successfully implements comprehensive measures to adapt Montenegrin health system to the corona virus pandemic. Such an approach will be the best possible guarantor of protecting the health and lives of citizens and providing possible health services in line with the circumstances.

It was noted that the measures taken after the first evidence of spread of the infection in Tuzi gave results. New reports confirmed full justification of measures taken to protect the health of citizens of Tuzi and beyond. The discipline of the majority citizens of Tuzi, who fully respect the measures, as well as the cooperation and cooperativeness of local self-government, headed by Mayor of the Municipality Nik Djelosaj, are highly appreciated.

The National Coordination Body was informed about individual attempts to violate the orders. Once again, all state institutions have been urged to continue prosecution, with no exception, of any violation of orders, aimed at protecting health and lives of citizens.

Even at a time when the entire world is preoccupied with tackling the pandemic of corona virus, it was perceived a spread of fake news by individuals and groups who are seeking to exploit this situation for their destructive policies, it was noted at the session.

The National Coordination Body has decided that sanitary booklets owned by certain persons who have expired, should be considered as valid, until 30 June 2020.

A decision was passed to formally declare the COVID – 19 epidemic, which threatened the entire territory of Montenegro.
