National Commission for UNESCO of Montenegro 2015

Natonal commission for UNESCO of Montenegro held its first meeting of new composition in the Ministry of Culture in Cetinje. The meeting was chaired by president, prof. Branislav Micunovic. The commission has discussed and adopted Rules of Procedures, discussed issue of founding the programme board, current and priority issues in 2015, especially commemoration of 70 years since establishment of the UNESCO, which will be held on November 16th 2015.

In the agenda were issues of UNESCO protected areas (Historical area of KOTOR and Durmitor National Park with basin of Tara River). Also, the two Montenegrin nomination activities for the UNESCO list of the World Heritage (Historical Core of Cetinje and Stećci – medieval gravestones) were discussed, which are currently in the evaluation process. The commission also discussed important organisatory issues and preparation for the General UNESCO Conference that shall be held in November this year in Paris.

First Montenegrin National Commission for UNESCO was formed by Government’s decision in April 2008. Since then, its composition was changed in 2011 and 2015. The members of new composition of the commission are:

  4. prof. dr Jovan Mirković, member;
  5. dr Veljko Radulović, member;
  6. prof. dr Bojka Đukanović, member;
  7. prof. dr Mihailo Burić, member; 
  8. prof. dr Ilija Lalošević, member;
  9. Nada Drobnjak, member;
  10. Anastazija Miranović, member;
  11. Jelena Đurović, member.
